{"id":341,"date":"2019-06-10T17:40:02","date_gmt":"2019-06-10T17:40:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/75.103.66.177\/?page_id=341"},"modified":"2022-01-19T20:38:42","modified_gmt":"2022-01-19T20:38:42","slug":"our-stories-dominican-republic","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/heartcareintl.org\/our-stories-dominican-republic\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Stories &#8211; Dominican Republic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After 5 years in Guatemala, Heart Care International began its next 5-year commitment in the Dominican Republic at La Plaza del Salud Hospital in 2000.<\/p>\n<p>Then, through successful collaboration with our partner organization, Heart Care Dominicana, the country&#8217;s first independent pediatric heart program was created at the CEDIMAT Hospital in Santo Domingo.<\/p>\n<p>HCI\u2019s work in the Dominican Republic is now generously supported by the David Ortiz Children\u2019s Fund, whose mission is to provide essential support for children in the Dominican Republic (and in New England) who cannot afford the critical cardiac services they need.
